For twenty years, Junibacken in Stockholm has been a frequently visited attraction for families from across Sweden and abroad. Now a similar cultural center is under construction in the shopping center Mobilia in Malmö; Funnys Äventyr. The purpose of Funnys Äventyr is to encourage joy in reading and playing, and increase the integration in Malmö. The goal is to make children from all cultures feel welcome and be able to meet on similar terms in a Nordic fairytale land. The project is a collaboration between Staffan Götestam, Malmö Stad and Atrium Ljungberg as well as a number of companies from the private sector. System Verification was the first company to join as co-founder and promises a funding of 950 000 SEK.
Why does System Verification join a project like this?
“The project’s purpose and values are completely in line with what we stand for and what we believe in. Children must discover that diversity enriches and favors creativity. Funnys Äventyr will give many children new insights and tools that they will carry with them for the rest of their lives. Supporting this kind of cultural investment for children is a huge privilege,” says Hamdija Jusufagic, Group CEO and founder of System Verification.
Staffan Götestam, the founder of Junibacken, is happy that System Verification takes active part in the creation of Funnys Äventyr.
”We are proud to have System Verification as co-founder and we are looking forward to a creative cooperation with them as they are a company that want to contribute in the development of Malmö and make a difference for children. This is a good example of how the private and cultural sectors can cooperate to achieve a positive social change,” he says.
Similar to Junibacken, Funnys Äventyr will display a fairytale-like frame with imaginatively decorated rooms. The house will feature interactive exhibits about Alfons Åberg, Pettson & Findus, Halvan Viking and Mumin, but will also take the children on a journey through classical fairytales by for example HC Andersen. Theatrical performances in several languages will also be featured every day, and there will be a book shop with souvenirs and a café.
Funnys Äventyr is built on approximately 3000 square meters of surface at the shopping center Mobilia in Malmö and is planned to open in the fall of 2020.
