Working a as consultant

No consultant assignment is exactly the same. It is a work role where variety comes as a natural ingredient. But apart from being qualified competence-wise, what does it take to work as a consultant? Finding your assignment - The process of starting your consultant journey

1. Prior to start

Creating your consultant CV

Before your official start, you will prepare your consultant CV, which will be shared with potential customers and assignments.

Dialogue about a suitable assignment

Together with your manager, you will have an ongoing dialogue about which assignments are most suitable and aligned with your interests. You will always be informed about where your profile is being sent and kept updated throughout the process.

2. Your first time at SYVE

The first weeks can look different.

If we have secured an assignment before your start date, your first day at SYVE may also be your first day at the customer. In most cases, however, you will still spend at least one day at the SYVE office for onboarding and introductions.

If you start without an assignment in place, your first weeks will be a valuable opportunity to get properly onboarded, learn more about how we work, and start building relationships with your new colleagues.

3. Waiting for an assignment

Focus on competence development.

Waiting for your first assignment, or being in between assignments is a time to focus on your competence development, such as taking courses and certifications.

Your profile and the market matter

How easily and quickly we can find your next assignment depends on your profile and the overall market situation.

4. At the customer

Every assignment is different.

The most common setup is being 100% dedicated to the same customer and project. However, there are exceptions.

An assignment typically lasts around 1.5 years. Depending on the customer’s needs and your preferences, it can be either shorter or longer.

You may be the only consultant from our company at the customer, or one of several consultants working at the same customer and/or project.
