Recycled furniture for the home office

Hybrid work is here to stay. A flexible model, where people can divide their time between their office and home desks, is how many envision the workplace of the future. At System Verification Sweden, working from home is now supported with desks and desk chairs from Rekomo – a company with a circular mindset: Rekomo sells and rents out high- quality office furniture. And it is all second-hand.

”For far too long, a lot of office furniture has simply been thrown away,” says Magnus Grentzelius, Sales Manager at Rekomo. “But all that is changing. Everyone is becoming more aware of the benefits of circular thinking. Our whole philosophy is based on the principle that furniture should be recycled as much as possible. A desk chair, for example, could easily last for 20 or 30 years. It’s often just a matter of changing the fabric and arm rests.”

Rekomo acquires furniture from both the private and public sectors. The reason often is that these organisations are planning to re-locate or re-organise – not that their furniture is particularly old or worn out. And now, high-quality desks and chairs for home usage are offered to System Verification’s employees.

“With Rekomo, we get a really sustainable solution. When it comes to sustainability, it may be easy to focus all your attention on things like buying eco-friendly products, the environment and travel. But we don’t want to stop there, we want to embed sustainability in everything we do. Providing a good home office work environment ensures that our people can perform the best way possible. But it is also about taking responsibility for ergonomics and the wellbeing of our employees. After all, you are more comfortable if you’re sitting on a proper desk chair than on a kitchen stool,” says Joanna Doweyko, HR Manager at System Verification.

Picking up the offer is easy. Employees simply state if they want a chair, a desk or both. Then Rekomo handles the delivery to their doorstep. But how environmentally friendly is the transport?

“It would take a lot of transports to reach the same level of emissions as new production of furniture. This definitely leaves a smaller carbon footprint,” says Magnus.

At System Verification, more initiatives are in the pipeline. Joanna elaborates:

“We know from the Employee Satisfaction Surveys and the health exams we conduct that initiatives to improve people’s wellbeing are extremely important and appreciated. To continue on the subject of the home office, we have also launched a page where our employees can choose technical equipment such as screens and keyboards. In the first phase, these offers will be available to our people in Sweden, but we’re looking at similar solutions for our offices in other countries as well. Stay tuned!”

Company Culture

Nurturing company culture during tough times

While countries around the world try to curb the Covid-19 pandemic, companies need to find (new) ways to keep their daily business up and running, while making sure their employees are staying safe and at the same time nourish the company culture. So, what have we done here at System Verification to tackle these challenges?

Working as a consultant

No consultant assignment is exactly the same. It is a work role where variety comes as a natural ingredient. But apart from being qualified competence-wise, what does it take to work as a consultant? Consultant Manager Madeleine Erlandsson, Tech Recruiter Miriam Adhanom and HR Operations Specialist Mathilda Syrén have the answers.

QA as a service – how we optimise our deliveries

As digitalisation accelerates, there is a continuously growing demand for technical expertise. More often than not, this demand exceeds supply. The shortage of skills is challenging. And it’s not just the tech industry that is struggling. Today, more or less all organisations rely on technology and software.
